Trinkets

Jasmine Anderson

My work is an introspective and symbolic representation of what I perceive. I seek to create symbolic expressions of moments and events which have had profound significance.

The sculptures exhibited manifest themselves into a form of characters, self portraits and studies of landmarks and culturally popular kitsch motifs. I often use self myself as the subject in various forms such as mermaids or angels. They are sometimes reminiscent of the work which I vividly remember creating as a child. The homage to the innocent often crude style is a deliberate and valued element.

At times my work carries a sentimental undertone.

I have included one recent painting, which is a self portrait as the Jasmine flowers.
